Los Molinos Chamber of Commerce
Regular Meeting Minutes
November 14, 2007
President Betty Morales called the meeting to order at
6:40 p.m. and opened with the renewal of the pledge of allegiance. There were eight present, no guests.
Secretary Barbara Whitten read the minutes of the October
10th Annual Meeting. The minutes were
approved as corrected. A copy of bylaws
revisions will be attached to minutes; nominations for Board of Directors and
Alternates will include Herb Votaw and Barbara Ochs; and ballots will be
mailed…at the November 28 Regular Meeting.
Jan Elmore read the minutes of the November 14 meeting,
which were approved as read.
Betty read the elections
letter, with the list of candidates, that will be sent out.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: There was
discussion about the 60th Anniversary Dinner’s income and expenses. Betty expressed her delight at how well the
evening went and read a list of raffle prize donors.
NEW BUSINESS; Betty
advised the Annual Holiday Mixer could not be held at Orchard Mobile Home Park
this year as the owners will be out of town and explained the Methodist Church
is available. Terry moved the Holiday
Mixer be held at the Los Molinos United Methodist Church on Monday, December
10, at 6 p.m. The motion was seconded
and carried.
The next regular meeting will be November 28 to tally
election ballots, determine Business/Volunteer of the Year and conduct regular
chamber business.
Santa’s Visit will be Saturday, December 8. Betty sent a letter to chamber members
asking for donations to help with the cost of the event. She discussed the gifts that are purchased
for the youth. There will be Santa
posters distributed. Clarissa Ortner
asked if the kids from the Alternatives to Violence shelter could be
invited. Betty said all the community
children are invited.
Betty talked about the picture taking, noting that
computerized pictures are the most economical to produce, but it would be much
easier and less time consuming to take Polaroid pictures. We need to be prepared for approximately 400
pictures. Barbara suggested contacting
WalMart for assistance with the cost and volunteered to ask for that
assistance.
The December 5 meeting will be a working meeting to tie
up loose ends for the Santa Visit and Holiday Mixer. Terry volunteered to copy color books for the kids while they
wait to have pictures taken. Charlie
moved to let Betty decide what gifts to purchase for the children. The motion was seconded and carried.
Everyone is asked to bring finger food for the Holiday
Mixer. Church members will provide hot
cider and coffee. J. R. Whipple will be
invited to demonstrate the Chamber web site.
J. R., Jon and Cathy Franks are new Chamber members.
There was a great deal of discussion about putting
children’s pictures with Santa on the website; it was decided not to do
that. Clarissa said the web site is
doable, and Mike Druey expressed interest in working as web master.
The Installation Dinner will be held Monday, February 11.
Terry talked about the cleanup that is being done at the
old Pancho’s location.
Betty read a letter from Jerome Crow regarding California
Bill SB777, which would make changes to California text books about gender
references. He has petitions for people
to sign.
Election ballots will be mailed by the end of the
week. She reminded the body of the
“Worker Bees” meeting on December 5.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:03 p.m.
