MID-MONTH MEETING MINUTES

February 13, 2008  (Minutes Approved on 2-27-08)

 

Allegiance.  There were 11 members present, no guests.

           

Secretary Barbara Whitten read the minutes of the January 30 meeting.  The minutes were approved as corrected

           

Charlie Githens has parade information ready for the Chamber website and has been in touch with G & G Trophy for Installation Dinner trophies.  Betty noted trophies for Volunteer of the Year, Business of the Year, Noel Watkins for distinguished service, Sierra Pacific and Rolling Hills for Corporate Sponsors will be presented at Installation Dinner; Certificates of Appreciation will be presented to Corning Ford, Bell Carter and Hidden Harbor Resort.

           

Betty asked Mike Druey to help count votes for the Volunteer of the Year and Business of the Year.  The winners were:  NuWay Market as Business of the Year, and the Volunteer of the Year is Shelley Patchen.

           

Betty received correspondence from Preston Dickinson, who will attend the Installation Dinner, for Senator Aanestad; Chris from Wally Herger’s office—no one will attend, so Ron Warner will present certificates from that office.  There has not been a response from Doug LaMalfa at this time.  Judge Noel Watkins will swear in the officers and directors again this year.  Barbara Ochs moved Noel Watkins have his dinner reimbursed.  The motion was seconded and carried.

           

Betty reviewed the program, noting Ron Gallagher will lead the pledge to the flag.  She advised that she asked Chris Bauer to be the speaker, and Chris suggested Darrell Mullins.  The target time to finish is 9 p.m.

           

Betty asked Barbara to contact caterer and give numbers for the dinner and confirm there will be hors d’ oeuvres.  Betty sent press release to Red Bluff Daily News.  Key Club girls from the high school will help serve dinner.  There was discussion about tickets for alcohol.  Barbara Ochs and Barbara Whitten will be at the door for registration.  Terry Rogers and Sharron Druey will sell tickets.  Set up will be Sunday at 1 p.m.  Herb Votaw will open the VFW Hall on Sunday for set up and 5:30 p.m. Monday evening.  Betty will have membership applications at the dinner.  To date 90 membership applications have been sent out.

CANCELLATION STAMP – Clarissa Ortner has stamp ready.  Los Molinos Postmaster says it looks good; it now must be approved by state.

LOS MOLINOS RIVER FEST – It looks like salmon fishing will be restricted, but there will still be the Miss Los Molinos Contest, luau and live music.  The Chamber will be looking for non-profits to participate with booths.  For profit is not allowed in a county park.  Mrs. Berens, a teacher at L.M. High has committed to help with contest. 

ANNOUNCEMENTS – Betty was contacted by the Red Bluff Daily News, asking for a business information page weekly.  The paper is looking for newsworthy information about businesses, new managers, anything that is going on to appear on the Commerce page.  Betsy Larimer should be contacted at clerk@redbluffdailynews.com X113.

            There was discussion about the website.

REGULAR MEETING MINUTES

February 27, 2008

 

 

President Betty Morales called the meeting to order at 6:37 p.m., followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.  There were 11 members present, no guests.

           

Secretary Barbara Whitten read the minutes of the February 13 meeting.  The minutes were approved as read.

           

There was no treasurer’s report.  Betty mentioned G&G Trophies could furnish magnetic name badges for approximately $5 each.

           

Betty advised the need to update the signer information on the bank account at Umpqua Bank.  The present signers include former Chamber members Bonnie Landingham, Tim Nagos and Dick Ochs.  Sharron Druey moved to remove Bonnie Landingham, Tim Nagos and Dick Ochs from the bank account as signers and to add Tim Kuhns, Shari Bochert, Barbara Ochs and Betty Morales to the account as authorized signers, along with current signers Catherine Blackmore and Charles Githens, as authorized signers.  The motion was seconded and carried.  The minutes of this meeting must be furnished to the bank on letterhead for the change of signers to become effective.

           

Terry Rogers, Umpqua Bank manager in Los Molinos, has been promoted to manager at the Red Bluff branch.

           

Jan Elmore received the 4th of July Parade insurance and road department approval for use of Hwy 99E for the parade.  She will now obtain the Sheriff’s Department approval to use 99E for parade.

           

Treasurer Charlie Githens moved funds from the 4th of July Parade bank account be used to purchase a cell phone for his use in overseeing all parade requirements.  The motion was seconded, and after much discussion, the motion was voted on and carried.  Clarissa was asked to check on the cost of pre-paid cell phones and report her findings at the next meeting.

           

Walter Dodd thanked the members for honoring him at the Installation Dinner for his years of faithful service to the Los Molinos Chamber of Commerce.  He gave the legislation report, which included: deadline to file for three Board of Supervisors upcoming vacancies is March 7; Tehama County Fire Department Annual Report; February 26 designated as “Spay Day;” animal care free spay clinic March 29-31; March 11 dedication of new county administration building; supervisors should start moving into new facility in April; first board meeting April 15.  Betty asked about the appointment to the Tehama County Sanitary Landfill Agency, and Walter congratulated her for her appointment to the agency.

           

Betty talked about the Installation Dinner and the discrepancy in the bill from Dreams Themes and Schemes.  Since Barbara Whitten had been the contact for the verbal, agreed price of dinner, she offered to contact the caterer to adjust the bill.  It was noted the dinner was great.

           

Clarissa Ortner talked about the cancellation stamp and the website.  She advised J.R. Whipple is asking $50 per hour, for approximately 4-6 hours, to put the 4th of July Parade information on the site.  It was determined it is not necessary to have it professionally done.

           

Betty suggested the Mayor’s Race begin right after Mother’s Day instead of April 1.  The body agreed.
