LOS MOLINOS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
March 19, 2008
President
Betty Morales called the meeting to order at 6:44 p.m., followed by the Pledge
of Allegiance. There were 13 members present,
two guests. Guests were Donna Wallan
and Jeannie Shakeshaft from Umpqua Bank.
Secretary Barbara Whitten read the minutes of the February
27 meeting. The minutes were approved
as read.
Charlie Githens gave the treasurer’s report. Discussion followed. Sharron Druey moved to move $219 from the
meat raffle and $227 from the installation regular raffle into the Newsletter
fund. The motion was seconded and
carried. Since that left $130 in the
regular raffle and $70 in the sales tax fund, Barbara Whitten moved to move
$130 from the regular raffle and $70 from the sales tax fund into the
Newsletter fund also. The motion was
seconded and carried. Clarissa moved to
move $55 from the 50/50 raffle into the Newsletter fund. The motion was seconded and carried.
Betty discussed the Installation Dinner invoice from
Dreams Schemes and Themes. Barbara had
contacted Linda Daniels-Lima and negotiated the cost reduced from $1274.00 to
$1158. The difference was the chicken
dinners should have been billed at $13 each.
Sharron Druey moved to accept the revised invoice as negotiated by Dream
Themes and Schemes and Barbara. The
motion was seconded and carried. The
invoice also included a chamber membership for Linda Lima, which was not a
problem. Jeannie Gallagher suggested a
written contract be agreed upon prior to the dinner in the future.
Jan Elmore has parade approvals up to the Sheriff’s
Department. Jan presented bills for
Installation Dinner. Herb Votaw
obtained approval for the use of Mill Creek Park for the 4th of July.
The Umpqua Bank account is set up with the new authorized
signers.
Walter Dodd gave the legislation report. The March 11 dedication of the County
Administration Building went well—about 100 at the ceremony. He discussed the three supervisors who will
be on the ballot for the June election.
Bob Douglas, T.C. Superintendent of Schools, is retiring June 30. Deputy County School Superintendent Larry
Champion will fill the vacancy.
Supervisors are working on the 2008 budget—the new year begins July
1. Walter would like to have the
candidates night April 24 or May 1.
Herb will check the VFW Hall availability for those nights.
Betty said she will contact Mr. Curry, the High School
Principal, to invite the Civics class members to attend. Walter will draft a letter of invitation for
Betty’s signature to send to candidates.
The Woman’s Club will serve refreshments. Walter mentioned he would also like to have voter registration
available that night.
The website reflects 35 members, with a couple having
paid twice. Jan Elmore said to move her
overpayment to 2009.
There was correspondence from Tiffany, who is in charge
of T.C. recycling, listing upcoming recycling events. Betty mentioned Rob’s Recycling also accepts most items.
Clarissa is still working with post office in Sacramento
on the 4th of July cancellation stamp.
Charlie now has a cell phone for parade operations. The number is (530) 200-0621.
Betty read the many upcoming events that are happening in
the county. She also advised we are a
501(c)6 nonprofit and must file a W-9.
The Woman’s Club is collecting items for the Alternatives
to Violence shelter.
The next meeting is April 30. Meeting adjourned 7:57 p.m.
